David Haye believes Vitali's era is over ? Boxing News | bettor.com

David Haye believes Vitali?s era is over ? Boxing News

British heavyweight boxer David Haye believes WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko no longer is the best in the division. Haye, who has been campaigning to fight against Vitali Klitschko since his knockout victory over Dereck Chisora earlier this year, believes it is time for him to grab the title from Vitali.

?I always assumed he was quite a proud man and wanted to leave some sort of legacy behind, which he won?t do at the moment, because, can you think of any big fighters Vitali has fought?? said Haye in his recent interview.

?He?s had 50 fights against nobodies. The only fight of his that people remember is the one against Lennox Lewis ? which he lost,? he added.

?He needs a fight people will actually remember ? and the only recognised heavyweight out there is myself,? he added.

For now, Haye believes it is his time to get a shot at Vitali, to finally get a shot at the title. Haye has been campaigning to fight Vitali Klitschko forever now. He has already faced Vitali?s younger brother Wladimir Klitschko previously and has lost.

Now, Haye believes it is time for him to fight against Vitali to finally grab a title and cement his legacy in the division.

?David Haye, David Price and Tyson Fury are three big men with big digs and big question marks remaining over their durability. Add Dereck Chisora, rumoured to be re-applying for his British license, then pair any two in semi-finals with the victors to meet and determine the 'Don'. All would fill football stadiums,? said Haye?s promoter Frank Promoter in his column this week.

In other words, Haye is near to a title shot, only if he can prove himself. While Haye believes there is nothing left for him to prove in the division, Frank Warren believes he needs to defeat other contenders in order to get the top.

For now, Haye is all ready to get a match against Vitali, believing the Ukrainian fighter stands for nothing. For Haye, Vitali has always fought against inferior opponents which is not an achievement for a titan like him.

A CMS-driven web design Essex is best if you are looking at ...

?

Sometimes a basic web design Essex is not enough if you have an ever increasing business. For better return on investment, you must go for an advanced yet affordable web design which has a content management system in place, so that your website can keep growing and changing along with your business.

?

?

A website could be either static or dynamic. In a static web design Essex, there is no external database from which data is drawn and to edit any content of the webpage, you need to go into the code and modify it. These mostly are coded in HTML. This can be done using software like Front Page or Dreamweaver or you may have to ask your web design Essex team to do it for you. In any case, updating data is more tedious and costly. If you have a dynamic web design, then the data can be altered via a content management system which anyone can handle without needing to have any knowledge of code or web design software. Such websites use more complicated coding software like ASP and PHP.

?

?

The advantage of having a dynamic, content management system based website is that you as the administrator can update your website independently which reduces overall maintenance costs. Although, dynamic websites are more expensive to get designed, but on a long run it happens to be the more affordable web design amongst the two. But before you decide which option to go for, you must think about what is the scope of your business and how it could affect your website. For example, if you have a product which you plan to advertise on your website, and you have plans of making more variations in your product or introduce new ones, then you must go for a dynamic web design Essex so that you do not have to undertake extra costs to make every little change to your website. Similarly, if you are an artist wanting to showcase work, it is always a better idea to go for a dynamic design so that you can keep adding newer work.

?

?

An affordable web design is everyone?s concern so you must understand your business and then decide if you need a dynamic website or not. For example, if you have a company which basically offers a particular kind of service which is unlikely to change anytime soon, then you could easily make do with a static website. If you intend to just inform people about what your company does and where you are based at, then there is no need to have a dynamic design and waste money in getting that.

?

?

Another thing which web design Essex companies offer these days is to have half the website as static and half as dynamic. For example, you could have the ?about us? and the ?contact us? page as static since that is unlikely to change often, and have the product catalogue pages, etc as dynamic pages so that you can keep updating them. This is an affordable web design option somewhere in the middle of both the costs.

?

?

?

If your business is ever-expanding, then you should go for a dynamic web design Essex website. If you want an affordable web design you could go for a static website.

i've been pondering some self-improvement, but let's not call

I'VE BEEN PONDERING SOME SELF-IMPROVEMENT, BUT LET'S NOT CALL 'EM "RESOLUTIONS"...

??????????

Okay, so maybe I'm not exactly "perfect" in my current configuration.? But this "resolution" thing is taking it too far, in my opinion.

?????????? Every year we muddle along, putting on weight, ignoring our dental issues, letting household improvements slide, telling ourselves that THIS will be the fresh start we need to finally drop the pounds, clean out the garage, fix the roof, repaint the bedrooms, caulk the tubs, etc. etc. etc. and in the end, we punish ourselves for a week or two in early January, then revert to whatever got us into such sorry shape to begin with.

?????????? My resolution this year is to make no bullshit resolutions.? My lovely (and dangerous) wife, on the other hand, has already started carrying through on her threats to impose a new diet plan for the two of us.? I call her "cleansing" proposals a diet of brush and potpourri... and I've been subjected to this shit in the past.? It's not nearly as horrible as I pretend it is, but if I don't act sufficiently miserable she'll just keep ratcheting up the levels of bland roughage until we're actually surviving on twigs and sunflower hulls.

??????????? Sigh...

??????????? I prefer to make resolutions I can keep.? For instance, I'm perfectly willing to give up Brussel sprouts, boiled okra, gin, and going to church.? I already hate all of those things.? See how easy this is?

??????????? I can give up peanut brittle, coconut, wild women, and day trading, too.? Being a married man who never eats peanut brittle or coconut, who already HAS a wild woman, and who doesn't know a damn thing about the stock market helps with this series of sacrifices I'm willing to make.

?????????? But for Christ's sake, baby, don't tell me we can't have cheese, or hamburgers, or baked potatoes with butter, or cold beer!? Don't hide the sausage-cheese balls, or put the fudge in the freezer labeled as "asparagus".? Surely we can compromise!

?????????? Compromise... what a concept.? I read in the morning paper where Congressional leaders and our President are trying to pound out some kind of agreement to avoid a brush and potpourri diet of sequestration cuts and taxes... and I'm willing to bet those assholes have a better chance at reaching a happy medium than we do here at Chateau Squatlo.

?????????? If you come over to visit, please bring beer and something totally decadent to eat.

?????????? I'd do it for you...

Zach Udko: The Top 10 Top 10 Lists of 2012

2012 was the year that was supposed to destroy us -- and it nearly did.

After surviving an unparalleled disaster that rocked us to our core (Lindsay Lohan in Liz & Dick), we pulled together as a nation of Thelmas and Louises, ready to boldly drive off the fiscal cliff together.

Now, as December draws to a close, our nation's critics and bloggers have once again generously given us their thoughts on the main cultural and newsworthy events of the year in the form of Top 10 lists. Since my earliest childhood, I have always been a sucker for these holiday treats, savoring the opportunity to measure the tastes of each scribe against my own.

These essential lists provide us with a sense of perspective, comfort and order. They fulfill a deeply spiritual need to make sense of our existences in the face of a cruel and capricious universe. As the Italian novelist Umberto Eco explains, "It's a way of escaping thoughts about death. We like lists because we don't want to die."

And so, in recognition of their enduring value, instead of offering my own Top 10 films, plays or books, I present to you my Top 10 Top 10 Lists of 2012. I hope that a close inspection of these items (varied in content, unparalleled in exuberance) helps you grapple with the incomprehensible as we begin to face new mysteries in 2013. Without further ado, these are the lists that fascinated and enlightened me this year:

10. Top 10 Most Disgusting Objects Allegedly Found in Fast Food (TheWeek.com)

The list that inspired me to learn how to cook.

9. (Tie) Top 10 Best Dressed at the Golden Globes (Vogue) and
Top 10 Worst Dressed at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards (Wetpaint.com)

Any list that places Tilda Swinton on top and Justin Bieber on bottom is one we need to talk about.

8. Top 10 Disturbing Products Derived From the Human Body (Listverse.com)

For teaching us that Soylent Green is no longer science fiction... in China, at least.

7. Top 10 Worst Grooming Mistakes (FoxNews.com with Men's Health)

The most insightful, significant and responsible piece of journalism from Fox News in a long time.

6. Top 10 Credenzas (Elle D?cor)

For alerting us to the harsh truth that you are nothing without a credenza. Nothing.

5. Top 10 Weirdest Animal Stories of 2012 (National Geographic)

We finally found a species that urinates out of its mouth. Thank you, National Geographic!

4. Top 10 Items From Oprah's New 'Favorite Things' List That We Actually Love (Business Insider)

Question: What could be better than the very best of anything Oprah?

3. Top 10 Worst Tweets of 2012 (Time magazine)

Answer: Reading a tweet from Oprah begging you to watch her network.

2. This list

Unfortunately, I missed out on the number one spot, which clearly had to go to...

1. Top 10 Mitt Romney Out of Touch Moments (ThinkProgress)

The most devastating and effective gag reel produced all year, featuring the GOP's number one mistake this election cycle.

Exclusive: Jim Jefferies talks fatherhood, stand-up tour, new show ...

For the better part of the last decade, Australian born, British bred comedian Jim Jefferies has endeared himself to dedicated fans of comedy with a taste for real-life, often X-rated stories. But come Jan. 17, when his series Legit (about a comedian desperately attempting life on the straight and narrow) premieres on FX, he will have opened up his raucous world to a decidedly larger group of comedy consumers. Throughout the show?s 13 episodes, Jefferies unravels many of the stories centered around family, friends and debauchery that he?s told onstage; in that way, this is truly a show ?based on the comedy of? the show?s creator.

The 30-minute, single-camera episodes promise to be funny but darkly so. DJ Qualls (Road Trip, Hustle & Flow) plays Billy, Jefferies? wheel chair-bound brother while Dan Bakkedahl (former Daily Show correspondent) plays Jim?s best friend Steve. Laughspin Podcast co-host Mike Gogel caught up with Jefferies recently to chat about Legit, becoming a new father, his plans for an upcoming stand-up comedy tour and much more! Check it out below and feel free to sound off in the comments section!

Stock index futures steady; budget talks eyed

PARIS (Reuters) - Stock index futures pointed to a steady Wall Street open, with S&P 500 futures down 0.11 percent, Dow Jones futures down 0.03 percent and Nasdaq 100 futures up 0.05 percent at 4.54 a.m. ET.

European shares were flat to slightly lower in early trade on Friday as investors waited to see if a deal to avoid the U.S. "fiscal cliff" would be reached before further boosting their exposure to equities. <.eu/>

President Barack Obama and lawmakers are launching a last-chance round of budget talks days before a New Year's deadline to reach a deal or watch the economy go off a "fiscal cliff." Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will meet congressional leaders from both parties at the White House on Friday at 3 p.m. EST.

On the macro front, investors awaited pending home sales data for November. Economists in a Reuters survey expect a 1.0 percent rise compared with a 5.2 percent gain in the previous month.

Investors in U.S.-based funds favored stock exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and emerging market equity mutual funds as the year wound down, data from Thomson Reuters' Lipper service showed on Thursday.

Satellite television provider DirecTV Group said its service fees would rise by an average of 4.5 percent in February due to increasing programming costs.

A Chinese court fined Apple 1 million yuan ($160,400) for hosting third-party applications on its App Store that were selling pirated electronic books, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Friday.

U.S. stocks fell for a fourth day on Thursday, but recovered most of their losses after the House of Representatives, in the barest sign of progress, said it would come back to work on avoiding the "fiscal cliff" this weekend.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.dji> slipped 18.28 points, or 0.14 percent, to 13,096.31 at the close. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.spx> declined 1.73 points, or 0.12 percent, to end at 1,418.10. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.ixic> dropped 4.25 points, or 0.14 percent, to close at 2,985.91.

Unilever to phase out 'microplastics' by 2015

AMSTERDAM (AP) ? Unilever, the maker of Vaseline, Axe deodorants and Dove soaps, among other cosmetic and hygiene products, says it will phase out the use of microplastics by 2015.

Many soaps, skin scrubs and shower gels contain microplastics, which are tiny polyethelene beads. Scientists and environmental groups are concerned that they contribute to polluting oceans.

The company said Thursday that it has "decided to phase out the use of plastic micro beads as a 'scrub' material in all of our personal care products" by 2015.

Unilever is one of the world's largest consumer product companies, competing with Nestle SA and Procter & Gamble Co.

How a Taliban suicide bomber wiped a promising Afghan business empire

KABUL (Reuters) - When a Taliban suicide bomber killed two people on the edge of the Afghan capital this month, there was another casualty - a global fruit juice business optimistically called "Spring Wish" which provided work for thousands of farmers across the country.

Mustafa Sadiq's empire had been expanding healthily, bringing in badly needed foreign capital, before the attack inflicted the kind of financial loss cash-strapped Afghanistan can ill afford.

The pomegranate juice business was nearly wiped out in the split second it took the militant to detonate explosives in a truck parked near the factory on December 17.

Pieces of shredded metal were scattered everywhere. Chairs were hurled across the office where Sadiq had spent so much time figuring out how to beat the odds against decades of war, instability and hopelessness.

Sadiq was in Dubai drumming up new export deals when an assistant called with the bad news. The call that Sadiq said he did not get is also troubling him.

"So far no officials, for the sake of sympathy, have called us," Sadiq, 40, told Reuters, standing beside a year's supply of juice in containers that were ruined in the attack - nearly $10 million in losses overall.

"In this situation they should have called me and asked what kind of help they could provide. The agriculture, finance, commerce ministries. Nobody so far has visited or called."

The impact of the war, and expectations for the future, are often seen only through the eyes of Western or Afghan soldiers, or officials who point to the progress that has been made.

Sadiq offers another perspective. Some workers told him the bomber triggered the loudest blast they had heard in 30 years.

A Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 was followed by a decade of resistance by mujahideen fighters who drove them out. Then warlords carved out fiefdoms and destroyed half of the capital in the civil war that followed.

DIRTY POLITICS

The Taliban took over, were toppled in 2001 and are now raising fears they may return when U.S.-led NATO troops hand over security to Afghan forces in 2014.

But Sadiq does not see the Taliban as the biggest threat to Afghanistan's future. Instead, he says, officials have turned politics into a commercial enterprise driven by corruption.

"Government employees think it's time to fill their pockets and grab whatever they can. That will pave the way for civil war," said Sadiq, as workers feverishly loaded boxes of the little fruit juice left onto a truck, and others worked to rebuild a brick wall.

"You have to struggle, not run away. It is kind of like running away now. They have walls around themselves sitting there and they do not have contact with ordinary Afghans."

His disillusionment is shared by the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

"There is no guarantee for investment in Afghanistan. People are afraid of the government, there is no rule of law. Government officials can do anything they want," the chamber's first vice-chairman, Jan Alokzai, told Reuters.

"President (Hamid) Karzai's words are only on paper and don't have any value."

Afghanistan's U.S.-backed government says it is committed to building up the economy, attracting foreign investment and helping Afghans secure a brighter future. Karzai says it is contracts with foreigners that spread graft.

WISHFUL THINKING?

The government has highlighted 2014 as a year to invest in Afghanistan, which relies heavily on foreign aid, and to take advantage of its cheap labor and land leases.

In each of the 10 years following 2014, the government hopes revenues from oil, natural gas, iron, copper and other mining ventures will generate $4 billion in revenue.

Sadiq spent time in Europe, waiting for an opportunity to return and invest in his homeland. He eventually opened a factory in an industrial park along Kabul's dusty Jalalabad Road in 2008, from where he broke into overseas markets.

Spring Wish, which employed about 1,000 people, was selling produce to the health conscious in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, bringing money into Afghanistan, while anxious Afghans carted $4.5 billion in cash out of the country last year to safety.

But when asked about the maps on a wall identifying parts of Afghanistan which offer opportunities for farmers and businesses like his, Sadiq could only put his head in his hands and cry.

The dark red seeds from Sadiq's fruits were prized in Europe for their antioxidant qualities, and in Japan where many believe they can help fight cancers. He seems most proud of the fact that he helped 40,000 farmers across Afghanistan earn a living.

As Sadiq tries to persuade his staff to keep dreaming big and to rebuild, one question may haunt him for some time. The suicide bomber parked his truck in a lane between his company and a foreign firm.

The Taliban said it attacked an American company next door, but he still wonders whether his factory, which relied on Italian machinery and benefited from U.S. aid programs, was the target. And he acknowledges he is desperate for money from Western donors.

"Around 120 people were working here and this factory was totally destroyed in the suicide attack," said Mohammed Jaw, 28, a general operator for the company. "A number of our workers will lose their jobs and now everyone is concerned about what happens next."

Despite the loss, Sadiq's entrepreneurial and marketing spirit seems intact.

"Have you tried the juice with mulberry flavor?" he asked proudly. "It's really good."

Then a worker brought the moment back to reality. He lifted his cellphone to show a photograph of the suicide bomber's severed head.

Parental leave global comparison: US still among least generous

Parental leave policies that guarantee new moms leave with income are available in 169 countries ? the US is not among them, showed a study by Harvard and McGill Universities.

The United States., advocates will say, is one of the worst countries in the world when it comes to maternity leave.? (And paternity leave, for that matter.)?

RELATED: 5 top childcare options: costs and value, from day care to nanny?

It?s the only developed country that doesn?t guarantee some form of paid leave to new moms, they say, and it?s one of only a very few even when you include impoverished and developing countries. One recent report, for instance, identified only four nations ? the US, Swaziland, Liberia, and Papua New Guinea ? that do not guarantee a new mom income while she stays home with her baby.?

This is the sort of tidbit that makes the rounds via Facebook. (One recent meme ?mapped? paid maternity leave, showing how many more weeks of paid leave Pakistan, South Africa, Mexico, and Venezuela give to new moms, compared with zero from the US.) It gets repeated as a given in debates and on social action websites such as Change.org.??

So we wanted to find out ? is it true?? Is the US, globally, really all that bad when it comes to family leave policies??

It?s an important question. The lack of paid leave has major ripple effects. Although the US Family and Medical Leave Act guarantees eligible employees 12 weeks off after the birth of the child, it only covers a fraction of the US workforce, and does not require employers to pay the parent's salary. This means that many moms (and some dads) face the financial lose-lose of either giving up large amounts of income while they stay home with baby, or spending lots of money on high-priced infant day care.?

Researchers have found that a new baby in the house is one of the top reasons for a ?poverty spell,? when a family?s income dips below what is needed to pay for basic expenses.? Some studies have also connected bankruptcy filings and foreclosures to moms or dads who take leave without pay after the birth of a child.?

But does the US actually ?lag behind,? as a number of advocates say??

Indonesia a hot real estate spot ? Bankrate, Inc.

Indonesia was the hot spot for global real-estate growth in 2012, with Jakarta growing 28.5 percent by the end of the third quarter, according to the Prime Global Cities Index published by Knight Frank property consultancy. Other cities with double-digit growth included Nairobi, London, Miami and Dubai. European cities were the worst performers.

The index, which tracks 26 cities, showed flat or positive growth in 15 cities through September, increasing to 20 cities in just the third quarter alone. That indicates improvement overall in the global market as the year progressed.

The company attributes strengthening demand to economic uncertainty and strong performance in alternative asset classes, along with appeal of these particular cities to luxury property-buyers. The performance of regional economies appears to have little influence on the hottest cities.

Since 2009, the index has improved by 18.7 percent, with Hong Kong, London and Beijing being the strongest performers over the three-year period.

(AP) ? Auburn has turned to Gus Malzahn to restore a program that made an unprecedented fall two years after winning a national title with Cam Newton operating his high-powered offense to perfection.

The school announced that it will introduce the former Arkansas State coach in a news conference Tuesday night.

Malzahn was the Tigers' offensive coordinator during their 2010 national championship run before heading to Arkansas State for his first college head coaching position.

He led the Red Wolves to a 9-3 record, a Sun Belt Conference title and a berth in the GoDaddy.com Bowl then parlayed that into a job in the powerhouse Southeastern Conference.

"It's an outstanding institution with a storied football program that I had the pleasure of experiencing firsthand for three years," Malzahn said in a statement. He thanked school representatives for their confidence "in my ability to turn this program around and to bring Auburn back to national prominence. This is a homecoming for me and I look forward to being reunited with the Auburn family."

Malzahn, 47, returns with his fast-paced, no-huddle offensive style. He replaces former boss Gene Chizik, who was fired one day after a 49-0 loss to No. 2 Alabama to complete a 3-9 season.

Before his arrival at Auburn in 2009, Malzahn had spent two seasons as Tulsa's offensive coordinator. He was the offensive coordinator at Arkansas for one year after a successful run in the Arkansas high school ranks.

Auburn had the nation's 115th-ranked offense last season, averaging 305 yards a game. The Red Wolves were ranked 19th in total yards under Malzahn.

It's the second straight time Auburn has turned to one of its coordinators from an unbeaten team. Chizik ran the defense for the 13-0 team in 2004 but was hired by the Tigers despite a 5-19 record in two seasons at Iowa State.

"We are tremendously excited that Gus Malzahn will be our next head football coach," athletic director Jay Jacobs said. "Coach Malzahn was the clear unanimous choice of our search committee, and I am pleased that Dr. Gogue has accepted our recommendation. This is a great day for Auburn football and Auburn University."

The search committee was comprised of Jacobs, Auburn Heisman Trophy winners Pat Sullivan and Bo Jackson and former Tigers player Mac Crawford.

Auburn owes more than $11 million in buyouts to Chizik and his coaching staff. Malzahn's contract and salary information was not immediately available.

The Tigers are hoping he can return them to success after a winless SEC season.

"Gus Malzahn is a proven winner," Jacobs said. "He is without question one of the brightest minds in college football and he has won everywhere he has been. Coach Malzahn knows what it takes to build a championship program in the Southeastern Conference. He knows our state and region and he understands what it will take to turn our program around. Coach Malzahn will also be an outstanding ambassador for Auburn University, and that was important to the committee."

The NCAA has been investigating the recruitment of signee Jovon Robinson, who was ruled ineligible after a guidance counselor admitted to creating a fake transcript.

The Tigers badly struggled in a transition to Scot Loeffler's pro-style last season, starting three quarterbacks.

Auburn was ranked in the top seven in rushing, total and scoring offense in 2010 and Newton won the Heisman Trophy in his lone season out of the junior college ranks. It was the Tigers' first national title since 1957.

Without Newton, the Tigers slipped to 100th in total offense in 2011 and then dipped even further.

The hiring reunites Malzahn with the quarterback he recruited out of Arkansas. Kiehl Frazier was benched last season after struggling as the starter. He was USA Today's national offensive player of the year as a high school senior.

Malzahn had been earning $1.3 million a year for the Tigers after interviewing with Vanderbilt after the national championship season. He took a substantial pay cut to join the head coaching ranks with the Sun Belt Conference team. Malzahn replaced Hugh Freeze, who also left after one season at Arkansas State to take over at Mississippi.

Chizik's tenure was marred by off-the-field problems, including the arrest of four players from the championship team for armed robbery.

Malzahn also made a couple of decisions with players that didn't pan out. Tailback Mike Dyer transferred from Auburn ? where he was suspended ? to Arkansas State. He was then dismissed by Arkansas State in July after a state trooper found marijuana and a gun in a car the national title game MVP was driving.

Can a breath test diagnose colorectal cancer? | Machines Like Us

A new study published in BJS has demonstrated for the first time that a simple breath analysis could be used for colorectal cancer screening. The study is part of the "Improving Outcomes in Gastrointestinal Cancer" supplement.

Cancer tissue has different metabolism compared to normal healthy cells and produces some substances which can be detected in the breath of these patients. Analysis of the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) linked to cancer is a new frontier in cancer screening.

Led by Donato F. Altomare, MD, of the Department of Emergency and Organ Transplantation at the University Aldo Moro of Bari, researchers collected exhaled breath from 37 patients with colorectal cancer and 41 healthy controls which was processed offline to evaluate the VOC profile. VOCs of interest had been identified and selected, and VOC patterns able to discriminate patients from controls set up.

A probabilistic neural network (PNN) was used to identify the pattern of VOCs that better discriminated between the two groups.

Results showed that patients with colorectal cancer have a different selective VOC pattern compared with healthy controls, based on analysis of 15 of 58 specific compounds in exhaled breath samples.

The PNN in this study was able to discriminate patients with colorectal cancer with an accuracy of over 75%, with the model correctly assigning 19 patients.

"The technique of breath sampling is very easy and non-invasive, although the method is still in the early phase of development," Altomare notes. "Our study's findings provide further support for the value of breath testing as a screening tool."

Chiefs had given counseling to Belcher, girlfriend

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) ? Police say the Kansas City Chiefs had been providing counseling to linebacker Jovan Belcher and his girlfriend before he killed her and committed suicide over the weekend.

Police Sgt. Richard Sharp told The Kansas City Star (http://bit.ly/SDwg9m ) that the couple had been arguing over relationship and financial issues for months and that the team had been "bending over backward" trying to help them.

Belcher fatally shot 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins at their Kansas City home Saturday before shooting himself in the head in the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot in front of team officials who were trying to stop him, including general manager Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel.

Sharp says Belcher reportedly thanked the men for their help but said "it was too late" before he killed himself.

Box Office Guru Wrapup: Twilight Threepeats at No. 1

The annual post-turkey blues kicked in as spending at the North American box office dropped by half compared to the record Thanksgiving frame with the top movies still in command. The only major new offering was Brad Pitt's mob pic Killing Them Softly which died on impact failing to attract much business.

For the third weekend in a row, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 ruled the box office. The final chapter of the vampire soap opera took in an estimated $17.4M representing a drop of 60%. That was exactly the same fall that the last installment suffered this very weekend a year ago. With $254.6M to date, Part 2 is running 3% ahead of Part 1. Overseas, it grossed $48.4M this weekend boosting the international total to $447.8M and the worldwide haul to $702.4M.

Moviegoers kept coming out for James Bond as Skyfall grossed an estimated $17M in its fourth weekend declining by 52%. Sony has amassed $246M from North America to date. Once again in third place was Steven Spielberg's Lincoln with an estimated $13.5M as it continues to cash in on Oscar buzz. Off 47%, the Disney release has collected $83.7M to date, an impressive figure for a historical drama. It will join the century club soon.

Following its disappointing opening, the DreamWorks Animation pic Rise of the Guardians dropped by an encouraging 43% in its second weekend to an estimated $13.5M boosting the 12-day cume to $48.9M. Kidpics often fall by 60% or so coming off of the turkey frame while Christmas movies hold up much better. Given Rise's semi-holiday theme, the decline was quite respectable. But the toon still hopes to show better legs in the weeks ahead in order to reach the heights of most recent 3D animated offerings from the DreamWorks stable.

Ang Lee's 3D adventure Life of Pi held up well dropping 47% to an estimated $12M giving Fox $48.4M after 12 days. Tumbling 58% from the holiday, Disney's hit toon Wreck-It Ralph followed with an estimated $7M. The video game flick has grossed a sturdy $158.3M thus far.

Brad Pitt anchored his worst debut in nearly two decades with the gangster pic Killing Them Softly which was dead on arrival in sixth place grossing just $7M, according to estimates. Looking at the popular actor's past live-action films that opened nationwide on the first weekend, it was his worst debut since 1994. If that weren't bad enough, Killing got slaughtered by audiences polled by CinemaScore who gave The Weinstein Co. release a pathetic F grade. The horror pic The Devil Inside scored the same grade on the first weekend of the year and collapsed by 76% in its sophomore frame. Averaging just $2,888 from 2,424 theaters, Softly received fairly good reviews from critics but paying moviegoers were utterly disappointed.

The remake Red Dawn followed with an estimated $6.6M, off 54%, putting FilmDistrict's MGM production at $31.3M. Denzel Washington's popular drama Flight collected another $4.5M, according to estimates, and has taken in $81.5M for Paramount thus far.

The horror pic The Collection bowed in the number ten spot with an estimated $3.4M from 1,403 locations for a weak $2,430 average for LD Entertainment.

Below the top ten, Oscar hopefuls expanded their releases aiming for wider audiences and kudos cred. The period piece Anna Karenina widened from 66 to 384 locations in its third weekend and grossed an estimated $2.2M for a decent $5,807 average. The Focus title has made $4.1M. Fox Searchlight's Hitchcock went from 17 to 50 locations and grossed an estimated $406,000. Averaging a sturdy $8,120, the Anthony Hopkins-Helen Mirren drama upped its sum to $784,000.

The Indian crime drama Talaash scored a strong opening in limited release with an estimated $2M from 172 locations for a promising $11,529 average for Reliance Entertainment.

The top ten films grossed an estimated $101.9M which was up 45% from last year when The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 held steady at number one with $16.5M; and up 36% from 2010 when Tangled took over the top spot with $21.6M.
